The 9900BX Interface
When transponder-equipped aircraft encroach, pilots need the right information in real time. They get the information through Ryan’s Audible Position Alerting (APA). When aircraft approach, the Ryan APA system provides pilots with a traffic alert, followed by the oncoming aircraft’s direction, relative vertical position and distance-"Traffic! 6 o’clock! Low! 1 Mile!" It’s the same alerts pilots receive from ATC. This is what a pilot needs to keep his attention focused outside the cockpit, scanning for oncoming traffic.

Patented Top and Bottom Directional Antennas optimizes signal coverage above and below the aircraft maximizing safety.

Standard with the 9900BX, Ryan’s patented directional top and bottom antenna system is used to interrogate and receive nearby transponder signals, providing optimum signal coverage around the host aircraft.

Integral Altitude Alerter annunciates "1,000 feet to go," "500 feet to go," and "at altitude," providing pilots deviation alerts from their assigned altitude.

In the air traffic control environment, an unauthorized deviation in assigned altitude can compromise safety. The 9900BX can alert the flight crew prior to arrival at an assigned altitude or to inadvertent changes in altitude.

Features
Active Interrogation gives the precise location of nearby aircraft giving real-time traffic information with no delay.
Interfaces on major Multi-Function and EFIS Systems providing a graphical overlay view and traffic depiction with TCAS symbology.
Provides over a 20 nautical mile range to monitor traffic for faster higher performance aircraft allowing the pilot to have a full 30-second decision time at a closure rate of 1200 knots.
TSO Certified, meeting the standard requirements from the Traffic Advisory System (TAS) and performance specifications of TCAS I.
